DCMEA Fall Conference
DCMEA presents its ‘59th Fall Conference’ this November 10, 2008 at the Sumner School Museum and Archives. This year’s theme is “Teaching Music to Urban Students of the 21st Century." Add this date to your schedule; the conference committee has worked hard to choose topics and clinicians to complement this year’s theme. The workshops will be thoroughly enlightening with fresh new incites to teaching music to students that send text messages, use iPods, mp3s and laptop computers. The committee has found a veteran college music professor that will remind us of why we became music educators. A music educator/entrepreneur will share experiences teaching music in their own music school. In addition, a DCPS high school teacher is willing to share general music lesson plans that work. To be sure all of us get the jewels these clinicians have to offer, the conference committee has set up Professional Learning Communities for both elementary and secondary teachers to attend each clinician’s session.
